Hi All,
It may have been awhile since my last email to you, but it doesn't mean I have forgotten you. And I am wishing that you are just fine.
Last Friday, Sept 15th was a critical day, Mel, my wife had a major surgery for breastr cancer, it was a Modified Radical Mastectomy of the left breast. She was diagnosed as having Stage 3B Infiltrating Ductal Carcinoma on Sept 1st. and the option was to excise the left breast at the Davao Medical Center.
She was dscharged on the 19th and is now fecuperating in our house in Davao City. The next procedure to be done is Chemotherapy, hopefully by October when the surgical wound has healed.
As you may have known, she is (was) a cancer survivor in the year 1996, when she had a remission of cancer of the breast. Now we are faced with the reality of another cancer.
We know that the Chemotherapy is an expensive procedure, and initially I have parted with my only Volkswagen for a discounted price, but I know that it will not be enough. I am praying that this financial crisis will pass, and that the Lord God will provide, but where it may come I have no idea. But I am sure that God will provide.
The children are all in College, and due to this event, may have to quit schooling temporarily. Meantime, I find strength in Mel's own faith that she will make it. We will be needing your prayers for her recovery.
Sorry for this news but we felt it necessary to update you. May God bless you all too.
Love and regards,
tatay Carl

Dr. Rodolfo Soriano, a good friend of mine and Boying's brod in the Free Masonry, is recently diagnosed of Stage III Lung Cancer. Please include him in your prayers and special intentions.
We are encouraging him to seek immediate medical/surgical treatment abroad. Since one of the thrusts of the Beautiful Heart Foundation, Inc. is to care for the sick, the elderly and dying, I volunteered to assist the family in facilitating and finding an affordable, if not totally free, medical treatment for him in Northern California including housing accommodation during the duration of his treatment there.
Thank you!

Dear Mem,
I guess Rod is a good candidate for this Stanford Study and in fact we can probably start setting up an appointment for him at this early.
My return flight has not been scheduled yet but I plan to go home to CA after the medical mission/free clinic on August 26, which is the 26th death anniversary of our father. You may proceed ahead of me in case we can set up an appointment with Stanford before then. However, he can easily walk in the ER of either Stanford Hospital or Santa Clara Valley Medical Center anytime.
Sincerely,
Toto

Dear Toto,
I searched clinical trials for Rods diagnosis and am lucky to see this ongoing trial at Stanford.
can you explore for Rods possibility of enrollment?
When are you leaving for the states. mas maayo man gud if you will be there ahead of us rather than we go there without you.
Most of the criteria though states that he has not yet undergone any chemo or radiation which it is timely if he could join the trial... Please explore.
Gina still feels that if we can go there and stay legally it would be better.
Thanks . we will be back to Davao on Monday and will have his bone scan on Tuesday.

Dear Dr. Millendez,
This looks great! I think, if possible, another avenue to help get the word out is if we could get an information table in front of the Boracay Grill during lunchtime on May 6? Or if we could get a poster up on the restaurant and at the Church as well. I will work on a press release to the local Filipino media and try to get it on their calendars. You should also receive the flyers and posters by Friday. I think the most crucial places to spread the word would definitely be your family and friends, St. Cipriane church and Boracay Grill.
It was such a pleasure speaking with you and I am glad to have met you. I am very excited to work together on this.
I've e-mailed Christine and her friends and family. I am absolutely sure one of them would like to speak with you, especially about the health drink.
Best,

Hi Dr. Millendez,
Good news! I heard back from Fr. Yabes and he is willing to make an announcement during the masses. It may be possible for us to coordinate with the parish office regarding the flyers in the bulletins.
Dr. Millendez asked me for a write-up of the drive. I wanted to run it by you first before I send it to him. I have attached it. Please feel free to make changes to it, if you would like to tailor it to your parish or make it more personable and meaningful for you.
I suggest in the announcement, that we place posters by the Church entrances if possible.
Warm Regards,

Dear Christine,
Am sure you have no idea who am I but just to tell you that my family and I care about you and we are including you in our daily prayers. We know how you and your family feel about this battle and the struggles you are going through. This is very close to home so to speak. I had a sister, our eldest sister, who had multiple myeloma in 2001, we struggled and she survived for another 2 years. She had the most difficult 2 years but it was the best because it brought the family together through our deep love for her. I miss her so much, she made an indelible mark in my life and the lives of other people whom she touched. Am sure she is very happy and contented now in His lap.
Trust Him and He will take care of you!

Thank you so much for responding immediately to my query and request for a possible grant for my daughter Janet....
Honestly, i have written to a number of foundation already... because of lack of finances to support the open heart surgery as recommended by her cardiologist...
We are in dire financial strait right now... recently, November last year, my husband died due to kidney failure... He had been suffering for almost most 20 years of diabetes ... Much of our savings went to his medication and dialysis...and now were left with practically nothing to really spare...
It was only last December that my daughter was diagnosed and recommended for a heart surgery operation at Philippine Heart Center...But due to lack of finances until now, we could not go to the Phil. Heart... We are awaiting for PCSO's response for a possible grant also...
As to your request for other pertinent records, i will have yet to scan all the documents to be attached in my next e-mail hopefully tomorrow.
As you see, as a mother, I dont want my daughter's life to be wasted when I know that there could still be hope out there... She's still at the prime years of her life...She is in her productive years... I know that with your help, you can help extend and augment her life... for her to enjoy and appreciate the beauty of life.
Doc, I am imploring your kind heart to please assist us in anyway you can...
God bless....

Dear Dr. Millendez,
I have attached necessary medical records of my daughter Janet which I am sure will help you in the evaluation of her present condition.
I believe that you are sent as an instrument of God for us to cling our hope in Him... that indeed with His Grace, nothing is impossible.
Doc, we rely in God's mercy and so hopefully everything will come into place...
Help me find possible medical grant that will shoulder the operation of my daughter the soonest time possible...
I will find ways and means to shoulder travel expenses...even if it means that I have to be in debt...so long as my daughter will be operated on and have the chance to extend her life in this temporal world... She is still young and i know much is still in store for her...
Thank you for finding time to accomodate my sincerest request... God will certainly shower His blessing on you and your family....
God bless!
Sincerely,
Mimi J. Maglana

Dear Dr. Millendez,
The family has decided to take option no. 2, that is to go to California for a second medical opinion...We would raise the money for air travel. If we can have our visa then we can fly the soonest possible time...
US visa is one of our obstacles... Can you help us facilitate the visa for me and my daughter?
Yes, i will confer her case with my husband's cousin who is her cardiologist regarding her present status if she could still fly...
Thank you and God Bless!

Hi Julia,
Is there a way you can furnish the family of Janet Maglana a letter specifying her scheduled date of her doctor's appointment?
Thanks,
Anacleto B. Millendez
P.S.
Attached herewith is an email of the patient's mother.
Dear Dr. Millendez,
Its only now I am able to log in and report to you current developments for i have been away in the province since the holy week.
I went to the travel agency yesterday for easy processing of visa for our possible trip abroad. However, they require me sponsorship papers from your end, possibly coming from Stanford hospital confirming our appointment in June.
Could we possibly get a copy of that documents doc so that we can easily process the visa as early as now?
Thank you and good day!
Sincerely,
Mimi Maglana
